Number of people: 250+

Date: Multiple dates across 2016

Event type: Conference

Spaces: The Auditorium & Exhibition Space

New Scientist commissioned a series of four events across 2016 to educate aspiring scientists about relativity, particle physics, the brain and consciousness. These masterclasses were led by subject matter experts who were sharing their knowledge and experiences in their respective fields. To do this, they required a venue which could overcome previous challenges of large capacities, AV requirements, visibility and additional breakout and hospitality spaces.

What We Did

We understood that the New Scientist events covered complex subjects and they needed to deliver multiple presentations, with a number of speakers and content types seamlessly and we were able to do this. Video and animation formed a large part of their presentations and our AV technician ensured there were no interruptions.

With a number of breakout sessions, we utilised our ground floor meeting rooms to help stimulate the attention of the delegates and prevent them from staying in the same room all day. Our exhibition space was used to provide a seperate area for networking and lunch, again overcoming previous challenges of lack of space to cater for large capacities.

Positive Outcomes

  • After the initial masterclass, New Scientist secured another three events with us due to our facilities and service.
  • High-calibre speakers utilised our AV to deliver flawless presentations.
  • Audience interaction across Twitter using #NSlive demonstrated engagement and enjoyment of the events.
